Love is beautiful in every form, but there’s something magical about the way love can melt the lives of two families into a new family that shines with the best from both worlds. It might not come as a surprise to many of you that we have a special place in our hearts for intercultural marriages (of course!). From the moment we met this couple, we knew their wedding would be a beautiful fusion of two awesome cultures, but it was even more than that. We knew this couple had something special. Even before we met them, the groom couldn’t resist telling us by email about his “beautiful fiancée”, and when we did meet them, we could see just how lucky they each knew they were to have found each other. Through every photo, from their fun downtown engagement session to the vintage-airplane themed couple’s shoot celebrating their sky-high engagement story, they glowed around each other…
Meet Mary and Joseph.
Their day started with a traditional Vietnamese Vu Quy, with Joseph’s family showing up to Mary’s family’s house to present gifts.
Here’s a glimpse of Mary’s shoes…I don’t think I’ve ever seen “something blue” done so right. How amazing are they?
Mary’s ao dai was covered in gorgeous blue gemwork and lace.
The happy bride getting ready.
Joseph rocking the blue with his bowtie.
The families greet!
An amazing ceremony. Loved it!
The second ceremony was beautiful, as the light streamed in through the windows…
Mary and Joe set aside time after the ceremony for a bride + groom photowalk, and it we had a chance to get some sweet photos of the new Mr. & Mrs…
Love the way he looks at her!
Mary and her lovely ladies.
Love the shoes!
The wedding reception, held at the amazing Thanh Thanh, was full of special hand-made details, like these adorable paper windmills!
Mary told us about her search for the special blue orchids that would match her color theme. Kim Trang did a beautiful job decking out the reception halls with more blue orchids than you could imagine!
Love the reception design!
Cupcake tower + cutest wedding cake toppers ever.
After cutting the cake, Mary and Joe danced into the night with friends and family.
Mary and Joe, we wish you two many happy years together! We know that you guys have something special, something all your friends and family can feel whenever the two of you are together. We’re so glad we could be there to document your journey as you started this next chapter of life together! Cheers to a lifetime of wedded bliss!

Story by the Bride:
Joe and I actually met at work at a reference lab. I used to work in the molecular genetics department as a medical lab scientist, and Joe was the only network engineer in the IT dept. Since it was a start up company, they needed more people in the IT dept with clinical background, so I ended up landing a job with the Information Systems team and sat across the way from Joe. I probably worked there for over a month before Joe would even have a real conversation with me! I brought bagels in one day for the team, and he finally spoke to me and the first question he asked me was about my Honda S2000, which I’ve never told him I owned… So, that was the moment when I knew there was something there! (Stalker…!)
Our first date was during a happy hour event at BJ’s that Joe coordinated, and sneakily at that… He could have easily emailed me an invite to event since we worked in the same department together, however, he did a Facebook event and invited all his friends through that. But we weren’t friends on Facebook! So he asked me to friend him so I could be invited, and that’s how we became Facebook friends so he could look at all my pictures, lol. It’s history from there… since then I’ve moved to Tacoma and back, and we’ve traveled all around the US together. He proposed December 22, 2012 in front of a restored B-52 WWII bomber plane that took us over the metroplex to view Christmas lights.
