Dallas Photographer: South Asian Wedding at Custer Road UMC |Sindya + Les|

The twists and turns that the world makes to bring two people together are a beautiful and surprising thing. For some couples, it starts when family moves from one place to another, or when a job opens up in a new city. For this couple, the story started with a building – ten years ago, one church decided to build next to another, and the youth groups from these churches started to hang out together. They were young, heading off to colleges in different towns, and had no idea that a future together was in store for them. But when she moved back, he knew he had to make a move – and he managed to woo her just in time, before she headed out of state for graduate school. They grew closer over the distance and years separate, and when she graduated and returned he was waiting for her, ready to start their story together.

Meet Sindya and Les.
The day started with the bride getting ready…and some royal blue Badgley Mischkas.

We have had the pleasure of working with one of Dallas’ best makeup artists, Jenny Torry of JTorryart, over the last several years. She has been there on wedding days for many of our brides, and helped us rock the makeup with our models when we host photography workshops. The Torry family is amazing (and gorgeous!), and we’ve loved getting to document their story since the birth of their miracle baby. We’re glad to call them friends, and to mark another milestone as they’re little princess Milan grows up!

Mommy & daughter…love.

I adore a black and white that is kind of serious…smiling photos of kiddos are stunning, but seeing a child look into the camera, at just a raw moment? They’re always one of my favorites!

Gorgeous family!

Fun with daddy…

Jenny, you are a beauty!

A big thank you to the Torry family for allowing us to be a part of such a beautiful family journey. Love you guys!

Cheers,

Matt and Ivy

Dallas Photographer: Asian American Fusion Wedding |Mary + Joseph|

Love is beautiful in every form, but there’s something magical about the way love can melt the lives of two families into a new family that shines with the best from both worlds. It might not come as a surprise to many of you that we have a special place in our hearts for intercultural marriages (of course!). From the moment we met this couple, we knew their wedding would be a beautiful fusion of two awesome cultures, but it was even more than that. We knew this couple had something special. Even before we met them, the groom couldn’t resist telling us by email about his “beautiful fiancée”, and when we did meet them, we could see just how lucky they each knew they were to have found each other. Through every photo, from their fun downtown engagement session to the vintage-airplane themed couple’s shoot celebrating their sky-high engagement story, they glowed around each other…

Meet Mary and Joseph.
Their day started with a traditional Vietnamese Vu Quy, with Joseph’s family showing up to Mary’s family’s house to present gifts.
Here’s a glimpse of Mary’s shoes…I don’t think I’ve ever seen “something blue” done so right. How amazing are they?

Story by the Bride:

Joe and I actually met at work at a reference lab. I used to work in the molecular genetics department as a medical lab scientist, and Joe was the only network engineer in the IT dept. Since it was a start up company, they needed more people in the IT dept with clinical background, so I ended up landing a job with the Information Systems team and sat across the way from Joe. I probably worked there for over a month before Joe would even have a real conversation with me! I brought bagels in one day for the team, and he finally spoke to me and the first question he asked me was about my Honda S2000, which I’ve never told him I owned… So, that was the moment when I knew there was something there! (Stalker…!)

Our first date was during a happy hour event at BJ’s that Joe coordinated, and sneakily at that… He could have easily emailed me an invite to event since we worked in the same department together, however, he did a Facebook event and invited all his friends through that. But we weren’t friends on Facebook! So he asked me to friend him so I could be invited, and that’s how we became Facebook friends so he could look at all my pictures, lol. It’s history from there… since then I’ve moved to Tacoma and back, and we’ve traveled all around the US together. He proposed December 22, 2012 in front of a restored B-52 WWII bomber plane that took us over the metroplex to view Christmas lights.
