He was from the North. She was a Southern girl. Yet somehow life’s long and winding journey ended up bringing them both to Austin, where they met for the first time – and that first time was just right. He was smitten by her winsome smile, and his wit won her over. That very first time they both knew they’d found something special in the other person that they’d never found before…

Meet Lindsay and Pete.

Their wedding was a perfect celebration of refined Northern seaboard taste, blended with elegant Southern flair. Their ceremony was held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, an icon of Downtown Austin for over a century…

Lindsay and her ladies started getting ready at the Four Seasons, and her gorgeous Essence of Australia dress went perfectly with these lovely Manolo’s.

Lindsay had two pairs of heels set aside for the day…

Love this photo of three generations…as Lindsay’s mother and grandmother watch her getting her makeup done. Lindsay radiated happiness all day!

The moments Lindsay shared with her mom and sister were too sweet!

I LOVE grandmother’s and babies….so these next two are some of my favorites… ; ) Lindsay’s grandmother seeing herself with fancy lashes (for the first time!), and one of the bridesmaid’s brand new babies..

How cute is this little guy?! It doesn’t hurt that he posed for the camera…. ; )

Lindsay’s mother and sister helped her get ready.

The bride’s mom and sister see her in her gown…

One of my favorite bride’s getting ready photos of all time! Love this excitement and emotion! So precious!

After Lindsay was ready, the ladies went downstairs and the bride ran into the groom’s father. His reaction says it all… : )

Lindsay, you are so lovely!

The groom, Pete, and his guys started their afternoon at the vintage bar in the Driskill hotel

St. Mary’s Cathedral is one of the landmarks of Austin…and it’s beauty is truly stunning.

The bride’s uncle, Fr. Laird, performed the ceremony.

Love the special moments the bride and groom shared during their vows.

Married!

After the ceremony, the bride and groom, and the bridal party, walked the streets of downtown Austin with a bagpipe escort. How epic is this!? It was one of those, “This.Is.Unbelievably.Special.” Moments. You will need to read the bride’s story of their day (at the end of this post), to hear the details of how special this escort was for her. Props to Pete for pulling off this sweet surprise!

Wedding party photos at the Capitol…love!

Some photos of the bride and groom in front of the engagement rock…

Lindsay and Pete’s reception took place at the lovely Green Pastures in Austin….a Southern estate known for it’s charm and gorgeous peacocks that roam the grounds!

Pete and Lindsay let us steal them away for a few moments….and we love how the sun was setting as they relaxed in rockers.

A happy bride and groom, enjoying their time together….love.

How beautiful is this reception? Special thanks to The Flower Bucket for once again creating stunning centerpieces, with gorgeous colors!

I love these table cards, and the sunny lemon theme…

You know a couple’s wedding day is special when butterflies stop by to say hello.

The peacocks were a hit with everyone….especially this one! : )

Catering was done by Green Pastures, and it was fabulous.

Gorgeous cake by Green Pastures…

The first dance…

The father-daughter dance…

Mother-son dance…

How cute is this?! Two of Lindsay’s bridesmaids had brand new babies leading up to the wedding, and still managed to be a part of the celebration. Those are some amazing bridesmaids! : )

Dancing the night away…

Love this sweet moment on the dance floor.

An amazing ending to a fabulous day!

Lindsay and Pete, thank you for letting us be a part of your big day! It was gorgeous. We wish you both the best, and many many years of fun, and happy memories together! : )

Best Wishes,

Matt and Ivy

The Bride’s Story

Pete & I met in Austin–Pete grew up in Connecticut, so we incorporated details representative of his taste & the Northeast — like Vineyard Vines ties, navy suits & monogrammed linen napkins. I have lived my entire life in Oklahoma & Texas–the location for the reception, Green Pastures paid tribute to my region of the country.  Green Pastures has been tucked away in the heart of South Austin for over 64-years. The true Southern hospitality shows through in the towering live oak trees, roaming peacocks and Victorian-style house on the grounds.
We decided we wanted to get married at St. Mary Cathedral’s within a couple months of our meeting.  The first day we met, Pete mentioned that his brother and sister-in-law were married there; coincidentally, I was already a member of that church, so it just made sense. My uncle, who is a Catholic priest, married us there in front of 150 of our friends & family.
For the past year, the bride’s friends Natalie Kopp & Ashley Koenings helped tremendously designing the overall look & feel of the reception, and helping out with a various projects–the “M” board that hung behind the bar, the signage in the buckets of lemons, embossing the seating cards & table numbers.  Natalie even sewed the monogrammed throw pillows on the adirondack chairs, and drove around Austin in search of the perfect lemons for some of the centerpieces!  Ashley, who was on bedrest for the 4 months leading up to the wedding, has darling penmanship that had the perfect vibe for a garden party occasion (she really should design her own font) — she addressed all the invitations & seating cards by hand!
As a surprise for me, Pete arranged for the bagpiper to stand outside of the church and play as everyone exited, and to escort the wedding party to the capitol for our pics.  It was a nice tribute to my grandfather–a bagpiper played in the lawn of the church as we left the funeral just 6 months before. And coincidentally, him & my grandmother share our wedding anniversary date!
