They say little boys throw things at little girls to tease them. After all, boys only tease the girls that they think are adorable. Well, Jeison must have thought the world of Staci, when he first noticed her….and so he tossed an acorn at her. Yes, the ones that fall from trees. ; )
Take note gentlemen, this approach worked! She noticed him noticing her, and I’m guessing she smiled her pretty smile at him, and so, from then on, whenever he wanted to get her attention he would toss an acorn her way. In fact, true to their story, he would eventually ask her to be his girlfriend, and then his wife…with the help of an acorn. : )
Meet Staci and Jeison.
Jeison is from Guatemala, and Staci is a Texas girl, but they met while studying at Dallas Baptist University, and their story is one of our favorites. Why? Well, it’s one of the few that we actually saw unfold. Jeison was a good friend in college, and I remember how excited he was when Staci came into his life. She lit up his world, and he was crazy about this amazing girl. When Matt and I met her, we had to agree. Staci is truly a beauty – inside and out, and it’s been such a joy to get to know her. Staci and Jeison were one of the first friends Matt and I put on our invitation list when we were planning our own wedding, and we were so honored when they asked us to photograph their wedding! : )
Here are some of our favorites from their gorgeous wedding in Castroville, TX.
Love Staci’s gorgeous Mori Lee dress…that she paired with her lovely bridal bouquet- made by her family!
Special thanks to Michelle Ferren at Salons by JC, who did a fabulous job on hair and makeup for Staci, and her sister, Traci.
Ah, love! : )
After the ladies got their hair and makeup done, we headed over to the bride’s grandmother’s house, where all the ladies got ready…
Staci’s mom and sister helped her put on her gown….so sweet!!
These moments between Staci and her mom are some of my favorite photos. You can just see how loved and special our bride is!
Staci, you are so gorgeous- and you look amazing in your gown. : )
A big thank you to Staci’s fabulous bridesmaids… ya’ll were all so fun!
Matt got to spend some time with Jeison while he got ready.
Jeison and the guys rockin’ their grey tuxes!
I don’t know what was going on here exactly, but I love how relaxed and happy all the guys were in the moments leading up to the wedding!
A shot of the Texas landscape and a detail of the pretty rings.
Before the ceremony, Staci’s bridesmaids uplifted her in a prayer.
A sweet moment, when all the kids got to see the bride just before the wedding began.
The emotional moments in the ceremony were beautiful. A shot of the bride’s parents watching as their daughter said her vows.
Yay- Married! : )
Friends and family gathered around Staci and Jeison to say a prayer for them before they had their big exit. The view of the groom’s mom praying for the couple…
…the exit, as husband and wife. How cute are these two?!
Our adorable couple on their photo walk.
The reception took place at the Grande Hall at Hofmann Ranch.
Loved the sweets bar, and the table for the kiddos!
The bride and groom’s cakes were made by their grandparent’s bakery, Haby’s Bakery, and they looked fabulous!
Matt and I adore when our brides and grooms take the time to pay attention to the kiddos at their wedding- and the kids love it! How fun are these two shots, taken at different times of the evening, one by me and one by Matt. : )
The bride and groom’s first dance.
Staci and Jeison, you two are the cutest couple- seriously!
The father- daughter dance…
The bride’s family did a traditional Belgian dance for the couple.
How awesome is it when a bride and groom dance and have a blast at their wedding?! LOVE.
Cutting the cake!
Every little girl wants to be a princess, and we love how this little lady caught the bridal bouquet….and then we caught her celebrating with it through the rest of the night! ; )
One of our favorite exit shots of all time.
Staci and Jeison, we are so happy for you!! Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your AMAZING day, and allowing us to meet your sweet families. We can only imagine what great things God has in store for your future, and we wish you both a long and happy life as husband and wife! : )
Best,
Matt and Ivy

Story from the bride:
Jeison and I met through mutual friends at DBU. We got to know each other working in the same building. Every time Jeison would come into the building while I was working he would throw acorns at me. I would never know where they were coming from. When he finally asked me out, he had carved out an acorn and wrote “homecoming?” inside with letters cut out from a magazine.
A little about us:
Jeison is from Guatemala and is an aspiring doctor. He is currently working in the E.R. as a scribe and working on getting into medical school. Staci is from Castroville, TX. I am currently a 2nd grade teacher in Grand Prairie. We both attend 412 Community Church and love being outdoors when the weather is not to hot or cold.
First of all we knew we wanted God to be glorified throughout the entire event. As far as the look and feel of the wedding, I think it went exactly how we imagined. We were going for a vintage, country feel with plenty of girly touches by me : ). It was really important to incorporate family traditions as well.
