They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. If that’s true, having a groom who’s a Navy man, and away for months at a time, makes a bride and groom the happiest people in the world when they are together. : )
Meet Rosa and Kurney.
On their wedding day, we saw how they light up when they see each other, and when it’s just the two of them. If you were with our happy couple, on the roof of the City Club tower, with the sparkling lights of downtown Fort Worth around them, you would have definitely felt the magic, too.
Throughout the wedding, everyone we spoke to reiterated to us how important it was that our couple have a beautiful and magical day… “because they absolutely deserved it.” From the breathtaking flowers, by Rosa’s brother, to the bride’s hair – by her sister, and her cocktail dress made by her aunt, everyone joined together to make sure that Rosa and Kurney had a perfect day….
and it really was. : )
Here are some of our favorite photos from their day.
I seriously LOVE Rosa’s Angelina Faccenda dress. The dress details are so intricate and lovely…she paired her dress with beautiful heels by Kate Spade.
A shot of the rings. Rosa’s ring is by Tiffany & Co. and a detail shot of her dress…
The girls got ready together at City Club.
It’s always great to work with Jenny, from JTorry Makeup Artistry. She makes sure our ladies look and feel fabulous. The girls thought her “makeup belt” was awesome, so here’s’ a shot of the array of brushes (who isn’t wowed by all those amazing MAC brushes!?).
Seeing the way that our couples use their engagement photos is always so fun, and spotting the new accessories or photos on the wedding day, makes me happy….it’s awesome to see them enjoy their photos. : ) Check out Rosa’s posh iPhone cover!!!
Love Rosa’s pretty brown eyes in this makeup shot.
So, here’s a fun fact for those of you who know me or follow the blog. : ) When I was 6 years old, Rosa’s sister, Patricia, gave me my first haircut. Since then, Patricia has been the only person who does my hair…through middle school, and high school, boys, drama, college and marriage. Yes, she’s Rosa’s big sister, but she also happens to be the best hair stylist in Texas. : ) Patricia is like family, so getting to be a part of her sister’s day was extra special.
A shot of one of the stunning bouquets by Rosa’s brother, Rafael, and his team at The Flower Bucket.
Rosa, I love how you radiate in your gown. : )
Rosa’s mom seeing her after she was dressed…love the happiness in the photo.
Had to include this sweet moment between sisters!
Matt was with Kurney and the guys when they got ready…here is the view from the groom’s room at City Club.
Kurney wore cufflinks that had been in his family for generations.
On the wedding day, Kurney’s tie was missing. All of the groomsmen had their ties, but somehow the groom’s tie was not included in the bag with his tux. So, the rest of the afternoon, frantic calls were made to different stores to see if anyone would have an ivory tie for the groom.
As we waited, the ceremony time got closer, and the tie was still elusive. Multiple options were thought of, but every other man had a black tie, and the groom needed an ivory one. Hmm…what to do???? Matt and I are pretty relaxed, but after about an hour, we started to wonder if we would be photographing a tie-less groom. ; ) I am so glad that Rosa had wanted to make sure her day went smoothly, so she planned the day out in advance with us. (We LOVE when brides do this!) After talking about it, we decided to squeeze in a little extra time into the schedule (just in case). The extra time Rosa planned for helped keep their day on schedule- and when the tie did arrive (yay!!!!!), we were still able to do the photos before the ceremony.
Here’s a little shot of the tie drama unfolding…. : ) I love how guys don’t stress. Yes, they’re concerned for a little bit, but then…
…they’re back to themselves! : )
Once the tie arrived, everyone was there to help Kurney make sure he got the tie on perfectly! How funny is this!?
A few shots of our couple’s first look….Kurney was all smiles as soon as soon as he heard Rosa approaching.
After the first look, we had some time with our couple, and we love how fun and happy they were!
Rosa and Kurney- you are the sweetest couple, and you rocked downtown Fort Worth!
Rosa and Kurney’s bridal party was great, and seriously helped to make the day awesome! Here’s a shot of City Club before the ceremony, and a group shot of everyone.
The Flower Bucket did an unbelievable job on the ceremony florals as well. Have you ever seen such pretty arrangements?!
Bridal bouquet.
These two are so happy!!!! There were so many joyful moments during the ceremony…
And there were lots of touching moments, too. A shot of Rosa’s family tearing up as they watch the emotional vows.
The bride’s cake, by Sublime Bakery, looked amazing….
When we went into the reception ballroom, before the evening started, we were just amazed. Look at the florals! Matt and I walked around getting detail shots in the time we had, but I know we could have photographed the details even longer…There was so much beauty and detail everywhere!
The first dance.
Entertainment was provided by The Project and they rocked. Really.
The food was delicious! Special thanks to Rosa’s family who made sure we ate. The meal was amazing, and we felt so good at the end of the night and totally ready for some fun dancing and exit shots!
Kurney really liked his groom’s cake. I loved that he got a shot of it for facebook! : )
Rosa’s family had special Puerto Rican cookies flown in for the wedding day, and they were handed out as favors to the guests at the end of the evening. I know I’m a tiny bit biased (being Puerto Rican and all…), but I thought this was the coolest and most delicious idea ever. ; )
We got to steal away with our couple for some shots of them on the balcony of City Club.
A bride and groom who dance with the kids in their family, on their wedding day. Love it!
While everyone went downstairs to prepare for their exit, our bride and groom had one last dance of the evening.
Rosa and Kurney, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your big day. Everytime we’ve been with you, we’ve had a fabulous time, and loved seeing how naturally you two interact. You both come from remarkable and loving families, and we wish you a lifetime of happiness! Stay in touch you two! : )
Best Wishes,
Matt and Ivy
