Dallas Wedding Photographer: Jenn + John |Custer Road UMC Wedding|

He was the best man. She was the maid of honor. On the day they came to see their best friends tie the knot, these two had no idea that their own story was just about to begin… Fast forward a year from that special day, and he was on his knee under the famed Century Tree at Texas A&M University, asking her to tie the knot with him.

Meet Jenn and John.

He makes her smile – the kind of smile a girl only has when she feels like a princess, dancing with her prince. She makes him smile, too. The kind of smile a guy only has when he feels so lucky to be with a girl that he can’t let the moment slip by without a laugh.

We got to see the spark they have in each playful glance when we were with them for their engagement session, and the magical spark was there at every single moment on their wedding day. We are so thankful we got to be a part of such a gorgeous celebration, and we are so excited to share some of our favorite images from their big day!

Jenn started getting ready at her friend’s house, and her Blue by Enzoani gown and Steve Madden heels, were just perfect.

Before the wedding, our bride and groom didn’t want to do a First look, but they did have gifts they wanted to exchange. So John was blindfolded and they got to exchange gifts in person…ADORABLE. And you know what? Even though our groom was blindfolded, their “first meeting” was one of the sweetest Matt and I have ever photographed. These two are beyond cute.

Mr. & Mrs. C. trusted us with the wedding of their daughter Stacy, and we were so honored that they trusted us a second time with their daughter Jenn’s wedding! This fabulous family, and their daughters, have been such a joy to get to know! …Oh, and Stacy and Jenn’s hubbies – John H. and John L.? Well, they are pretty awesome, too! : )

Plano Modern Vintage Photos by Dallas Photographer Ivy Weddings

After the ceremony, we only had a few minutes of daylight left, and our couple had told us how much they really wanted sunset photos. We all knew it would be a tight squeeze to make it all work, so when things ran a little behind we were absolutely rushed to get to a spot for their sunset photos before the light was gone. It is so great when a bride and groom trust their photographer, and Jenn and John couldn’t have been more of a joy to photograph. This shot is a candid capture of the bride and groom running from the chapel to the car after their wedding. I LOVE it.

Story from the bride:

John and I met at our best friend’s wedding. John was the best man and I was the maid of honor. After a fun weekend, we returned to Dallas and started dating. A little more than a year later, John proposed to me in the perfect way, under the “Century Tree” at Texas A&M University where we both attended school. Since then, I’ve been dreaming of a traditional and “shabby chic” themed wedding filled with lace and hydrangeas. We are so thankful for the Lord’s perfect timing and that He has blessed us with this marriage. Our wedding day was an amazing celebration with our closest family and friends. John and I now live in Addison, TX where I work as a pediatric Speech Pathologist and John works as an IT auditor at KPMG. We couldn’t be more happy to start our lives together!

Brittany and Keith’s Villa Antonia wedding will always be unforgettable to me. It was a fairy tale wedding of an amazing couple –  the wedding, the couple, the family, the venue….all gorgeous in every way. It will also be a wedding that Matt and I mention frequently, because I was really really sick. I’ve never missed a wedding, so when I got food poisoning and was at the hospital a couple of days before, I thought Brittany and Keith’s wedding would be my first miss. Matt and I like to be extra safe, so we called a backup photographer to possibly take my place, and a lighting assistant. At the end, we decided the bond we have with our couples is too strong and our bride’s peace (at knowing and feeling comfortable with her photographer) is paramount, and since I was able to go, we’d shoot it ourselves.

I definitely felt strong enough to shoot, but not carry all my gear or be 100% myself, so I owe a million thanks to Matt who did double duty that entire day, and Fred (our amazing lighting assistant!) who carried my bags and brought me juice, through most of the reception. I’m so glad I didn’t miss this wedding, and seeing it published in Southern Weddings, makes me do a happy dance. Matt and I adore Brittany and Keith, and we definitely think their wedding was a true life fairy tale.

Go check out the gorgeousness on Southern Weddings!

Every girl wants an amazing reaction from her groom when he sees her for the first time. So a man whose mouth drops open when he sees his gorgeous bride at the start of their first look, and then again when he sees her walking down the aisle towards him? That’s beyond romantic…it’s true love and all of it’s sparkles.  : )

Meet Carrie and Andrew.

Andrew’s reaction to seeing his bride was like seeing the magical moments of every romance movie all rolled into one. The best part? Carrie feels the same way about her groom…together they’ve created a gorgeous world where all you need is love, and you feel lucky to have gotten the chance to know these two.

Here are a few of our favorites their wedding at The Mansion at Judges Hill, and make sure to check out the bride’s story of their day.

Carrie and Andrew, from the first time we met you two, you became instant friends. So many people at the wedding told us they were lucky to have you all in their lives, and we couldn’t agree more. We love your love for life, the Beatles, and of course, each other. : ) Congratulations on tying the knot! We wish you both a lifetime of happiness!

Best wishes,

Matt and Ivy

Story from the bride:

Andrew and I vaguely knew each other through mutual friends, that were my neighbors. He would flirt with me through Facebook, but it took him forever to ask me out. Then, one day he was in my neighborhood and my pug, Lola ran out of the house and would not stop barking at Andrew and his friends; and I couldn’t get her to come back inside. Luckily, Andrew helped me rein her in. He claims that she attacked him and threatened him with his life if he didn’t ask me out. Not sure about that, but I did get a long message on Facebook that night asking me out. The rest is history!
Our wedding was the most amazing day of our lives. And, I’m not just saying that. The weather in Austin in December is unpredictable and sure enough that week it had been raining and cold. Our ceremony was scheduled to be in the courtyard of The Mansion at Judge’s Hill, but that plan wasn’t looking good. As the day got closer the rain subsided, but it was still really cloudy and cold…and was slated to stay that way. But, the morning of the big day it was surprisingly sunny and slightly warmer. I like to think my mom and dad had something to do with that.
Speaking of my mom and dad…both are deceased and I wanted a way to incorporate their spirit and memory in my wedding without being somber. My dad was an avid Beatles fan, so we had touches of that in several ways: lyrics intertwined in my cousin’s reading, a string quartet playing “All You Need Is Love”, which is also the song the band played for our first dance, and the band playing “Here Comes the Sun” for the ‘father-daughter’ dance that I danced to with both of my brothers. I also had two picture charms on my bouquet at the base and a table full of family wedding pictures honoring all of our family, including those that are no longer with us and those that couldn’t travel to be there. My brothers were very involved in the wedding too. My younger brother James actually married us and my older brother Matt walked me down the aisle. Then, at the reception, James gave the blessing while Matt gave a very heartfelt welcome toast. There wasn’t a dry eye there…it was so touching, spiritual, and personal.
Then, the party started! The reception had touches of Austin….table names of our favorite places in the city and a dessert table from several Austin food trailers: donuts from Gourdough’s, cupcakes from Hey Cupcake!, and cakeballs from Holy Cacao. The band really set the tone. It was such a great party and everything went so smoothly!!

San Antonio Wedding Photographers: Staci + Jeison |Vintage Country Wedding|

They say little boys throw things at little girls to tease them. After all, boys only tease the girls that they think are adorable. Well, Jeison must have thought the world of Staci, when he first noticed her….and so he tossed an acorn at her. Yes, the ones that fall from trees. ; )

Take note gentlemen, this approach worked! She noticed him noticing her, and I’m guessing she smiled her pretty smile at him, and so, from then on, whenever he wanted to get her attention he would toss an acorn her way. In fact, true to their story, he would eventually ask her to be his girlfriend, and then his wife…with the help of an acorn. : )

Meet Staci and Jeison.

Jeison is from Guatemala, and Staci is a Texas girl, but they met while studying at Dallas Baptist University, and their story is one of our favorites. Why? Well, it’s one of the few that we actually saw unfold. Jeison was a good friend in college, and I remember how excited he was when Staci came into his life. She lit up his world, and he was crazy about this amazing girl. When Matt and I met her, we had to agree. Staci is truly a beauty – inside and out, and it’s been such a joy to get to know her. Staci and Jeison were one of the first friends Matt and I put on our invitation list when we were planning our own wedding, and we were so honored when they asked us to photograph their wedding! : )

Matt and I adore when our brides and grooms take the time to pay attention to the kiddos at their wedding- and the kids love it! How fun are these two shots, taken at different times of the evening, one by me and one by Matt. :  )

Every little girl wants to be a princess, and we love how this little lady caught the bridal bouquet….and then we caught her celebrating with it through the rest of the night! ; )

Story from the bride:

How we met:
Jeison and I met through mutual friends at DBU. We got to know each other working in the same building. Every time Jeison would come into the building while I was working he would throw acorns at me.  I would never know where they were coming from. When he finally asked me out, he had carved out an acorn and wrote “homecoming?” inside with letters cut out from a magazine.

A little about us:
Jeison is from Guatemala and is an aspiring doctor. He is currently working in the E.R. as a scribe and working on getting into medical school. Staci is from Castroville, TX. I am currently a 2nd grade teacher in Grand Prairie. We both attend 412 Community Church and love being outdoors when the weather is not to hot or cold.

What we envisioned for out wedding:
First of all we knew we wanted God to be glorified throughout the entire event. As far as the look and feel of the wedding, I think it went exactly how we imagined. We were going for a vintage, country feel with plenty of girly touches by me : ). It was really important to incorporate family traditions as well.

Corpus Christi Wedding Photographers: Erin + Robert

Someone once said that love is like a roller coaster. On the best roller coasters, there’s ups and downs, and if you stick it out, it’s one of the most enjoyable rides of your life. : ) When they first met, at a restaurant 9 years ago, they had no idea what a crazy ride was in store.  If you ask her, when she met this guy, Robert, who everyone called Peanut, she had no idea that it would be the start of one of the biggest whirlwinds of her life. Not to mention the fact that she’d eventually plan an entire wedding in 48 hours!

Meet Erin and Peanut.

They are one of the sweetest most kind-hearted couples you will ever meet. Sometimes the most courageous couples have hardest situations throw at them…why? I don’t know, but their strength and faith to overcome, is what encourages all the rest of us, and you can’t help but admire them.

That perfectly describes our couple. Erin first contacted us, a couple of days before her wedding. Come again?! Yes. We had already heard her story, and we were wondering how something so crazy could happen to a bride and groom. To make a long story short, through no fault of their own, all of their initial plans and vendors had fallen through, so 48 hours before their wedding, they were back at square one.

Through some crazy last minute planning, and emails and lots of text messages, we ended up in Corpus Christi for one of the most beautifully intimate weddings we’ve been to. If you ask Erin and Peanut, how their dream wedding was planned in 48 hours, they’ll tell you it was a lot of grace, love, kindness from friends, family coming together, dreams fulfilled, and a whole lot faith in God that made everything just perfect.

Here are some of our favorites from their gorgeous beach wedding.

At the end of the ceremony, the bride and groom symbolically joined their two families by having unity sand. All of the kids, and Erin and Peanut, added their sand to the jar….and I love how their son made sure all of his sand got inside. : )
